ANALYSIS OF FOOD TECHNOLOGY RELATED ARTICLES IN LEADING MALAYALAM DAILIES
Dr.T.P.Sethumadhavan Malayalam dailies play a key role in transfer of technologies. Food technology related articles appear regularly in all dailies.But research studies to assess it’s extent of coverage is comparatively less.This study was undertaken to assess the same.
Four malayalam dailies for a period of one year was taken for the study based on their number of circulation;which include Malayala manorama,Mathrubhoomi,Deepika and Desabhimani.
Content analysis technique (Berelson1952) was used for analysis.
Results were shown as follows: -

It was found that more percentage of food technology related articles were seen in farm feature and business pagesof four daulies.Moreover Agriculture related articles were more when compared to livestock and poultry articles.Percentage wise analysis revealed that within livestock&poultry ,articles on milk processing occupy more space.Meat and poultry processing articles were comparatively less.
Malayala manorama provided more space for publishing Food technology related articles.While Mathrubhoomi published more livestock&poultry related articles when compared to it.Deepika daily published more poultry product technology related articles. Eventhough Desabhimani provided less space for publishing Food technology articles compared to other dailies more milk processing related articles were published in Desabhimani.
